Plan 'stays the same on face masks'

THE Government has no plans to change guidance on face masks amid a surge in flu cases, the Prime Minister has said.

Sir Keir Starmer told reporters guidance regarding hand washing and ventilation is in place and people should use their “common sense”.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) wrote in a blog last week that “masks continue to be a useful tool in limiting the spread of respiratory viruses in some situations”.

The UKHSA said there was no change to guidance first published in 2022 which suggests masks can stop the spread of infection.
