WORLD Rally Championship leader Elfyn Evans heads to Rally de Portugal hoping to replicate his win of five years ago.
The British driver triumphed there in 2021 and currently leads the drivers’ championship by two points over Toyota teammate Takamoto Katsuta, who has also performed strongly in Portugal in the past.
Their teammate Sami Pajari is third in the standings, 29 points off the lead, after taking four consecutive podium finishes, with Toyota driver Oliver Solberg four points further back in fourth.
Portuguese gravel offers a very different challenge to the last round Rally Islas Canarias, but has been successful terrain for the team, which has won the last six editions of the event in a run dating back to 2019.
