BUT FC STAR IS 'LAID-BACK' ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF ASHES SELECTION

- By DAN TOMLINSON

Hardaker: I'd love to play for England again, my phone is always on!

Sometimes in sport your face just fits, and that’s been the case for Zak Hardaker at Hull FC.

The 33-year-old has been nothing short of outstanding in his first year at the Black and Whites, coming up trumps with a sequence of impressive never-say-die performances.

That has left John Cartwright in awe of the player by the week, with the Hull head coach, without being promoted, stating after this month's victory over Leigh Leopards that Hardaker should be in the England squad for this autumn’s Ashes series against Australia.

In Cartwright’s eyes, Hardaker would be the perfect 14, with the Hull star playing centre, halfback, back row, and fullback for the Black and Whites this year.

And no matter where he’s played, he’s performed, with his willingness to dig in and compete standing tall.

For Hardaker, there’s never been another way.
