Gilbert Baitson Auctioneers hammers down on sales thanks to its online platforms

GILBERT Baitson is a fourth-generation family-run Hull business specialising in fine antiques, jewellery, and collectables.

Since its inception in 1935, the popular auction house has conducted more than 9,000 auction sales, including everything from 40,000 sets of false teeth to a stuffed Doberman dog and a donkey.

A truly family-orientated business, Gilbert Baitson has increased sales due to online auctions, and this month, the firm celebrates its 90th anniversary.

In 2009, some of the auctions went online, and in 2020, Gilbert Baitson moved all of the auctions online except for the Antique and Collectibles auctions, which are traditional live auctions with an online presence.

Based in Hull, the auction rooms conduct weekly auctions of general household effects and hold specialised auctions on-site or in its auction rooms, which includes:

• Motor vehicles

• Pre and post-liquidation auctions

• End of line and overstock
