On National Sports Day today, athlete Amoj Jacob's alma mater in DU has double cause for celebration
When the Indian men's 4x400 relay team smashed the W Asian record at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest (Hungary), a wave of jubilation swept through Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur (SGTB) Khalsa College, Delhi University (DU). The history-making team comprised 25-year-old Amoj Jacob, an alumnus of the college, along with Muhammed Anas Yahiya, Muhammed Ajmal Variyathodi and Rajesh Ramesh, who together broke the earlier record held by the Japanese team (2:59:51), with their staggering finish in 2:59:05. On August 28, the young athletes came fifth at the championship finals.
