India welcomes competition in global politics, says Jaishankar
January 31, 2024
|Hindustan Times
India does not fear Beijing and rather welcomes competition and tries to be better than other countries, external affairs minister S Jaishankar said during an interaction with students at the Indian Institute of Management, Mumbai on Tuesday.
MUMBAI:"It (China) is India's neighbour and is going to deploy resources and shape South Asia's geopolitical situation in 'China's way'. I don't think we should be scared of China. I think we should say 'okay, global politics is a competitive game. You do your best, I will do my best'," Jaishankar said while responding to a question during the interaction on Tuesday. Students pointed out China's continuous efforts to strengthen its ties with nations like Bangladesh, Maldives, and Pakistan.
