India, Kuwait to become strategic partners: Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday arrived in Kuwait on a two-day visit where he will hold talks with Kuwaiti leadership with a focus on charting a road map for a "futuristic" partnership that benefits both countries and elevates their relationship to a strategic partnership.

This is the first visit by an Indian premier to Kuwait, a crucial partner in West Asia for energy and trade, in more than four decades.
In his departure statement, Modi said his talks with Kuwaiti leadership would be an opportunity to chalk out a path for a futuristic partnership between the two countries. "It would be an opportunity to chalk out a road map for a futuristic partnership for the benefit of our people and the region," he said.
