|Hindustan Times
Multiple gates at nine Delhi Metro stations in Lutyens Delhi were shut for entry and exit for several hours on Tuesday, ostensibly to regulate the movement of passengers in the wake of the farmers' protest and march to the city.
Even at gates that were operational, there was a heavy deployment of police and paramilitary personnel as a precautionary measure, officials aware of the matter said.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said the gates at the nine stations - Central Secretariat, Rajiv Chowk, Udyog Bhawan, Patel Chowk, Mandi House, Barakhamba Road, Janpath, Khan Market and Lok Kalyan Marg were shut in the morning, based on the security instructions issued to them by the Delhi Police.
However, DMRC officials said Metro operations remained normal throughout the day, and the gates that were shut were reopened at 7pm.
