Delhi sets up 6-member panel to enforce Grap

Delhi environment minister Gopal Rai said on Thursday that the government had formed a six-member special task force to oversee the proper implementation of the Graded Response Action Plan (Grap) across the Capital.

He added that the task force will be headed by the environment special secretary.

The first of the four stages of Grap came into force in Delhi on October 6. In phases, almost all activities such as construction work, the entry of diesel-run heavy vehicles and the use of some older cars -- that can be banned under Grap are now curbed, but the city's air quality has mostly been "severely" polluted for most of November.
