Curious onlookers compromise crash site

AHMEDABAD: Huge crowds, unplugged entry points and chaos on the ground delayed securing of the site of the air crash by over 10 hours, officials aware of the matter said on Friday.
"By midnight, we managed to secure the cash site for investigators," a Gujarat police official aware of the matter said.
Since Thursday afternoon, when the London-bound flight crashed seconds after taking off, the site was partially cordoned off with fire fighters initiating dousing of flames.
"Among the first protocols for police is to barricade the area in entirety and let only emergency services and volunteers to be part of the operations," an officer attached with Meghani Nagar police station said. However, he added, as the ground situation became chaotic, multiple entry points remained unplugged.
