Critical stretch of Ring Road set to be repaved

The Public Works Department (PWD) is set to revamp a key four-kilometre section of the Ring Road that connects west and northwest Delhi from Punjabi Bagh roundabout to Prembari Pul near Shalimar Bagh at a cost of ₹16.77 crore, officials aware of the development said.

The project, expected to last four months, will involve recarpeting, repairs, glowing studs installation, and horticultural improvements.

The stretch is a critical part of Ring Road, and covers junctures such as the Netaji Subhash Place intersection and the Britannia Chowk. Officials said work would be conducted during off-peak hours to minimise disruptions.

Highlighting that the Punjabi Bagh flyover is soon expected to be opened for traffic movement shortly, the official said: "Bids for recarpeting of the west Delhi Ring road stretch were invited last week and the process is likely to be completed by January 6. Once an agency is finalised, 120 days will be provided to complete the project."
