AIIMS Darbhanga project hangs in limbo after Centre seeks more land

The long-delayed All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bihar's Darbhanga has hit a new roadblock as the central government has asked for an additional 50 acres of land for the project.
More land is required to meet the long-term requirements of the tertiary health care institute, Ankita Mishra Bundela, joint secretary at Union health ministry, wrote on December 27 to Pratyay Amrit, additional chief secretary at state health department. The letter highlighted the need for essential infrastructure such as 20 MVA permanent electricity connection, a 4-lane road and 1.5 million litres daily potable water supply for the proposed hospital in Darbhanga.
