State to extend free power, cap water charges, says Roy

Janata Dal (United) MLA Saryu Roy on Friday said that the Jharkhand government has agreed to extend its 200-unit free electricity scheme to private power providers like Tata Steel, Tata Steel Utility and Infrastructure Services Ltd (TSUISL), and Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) consumers in Jamshedpur, Bokaro, Dhanbad, and similar cities.
Roy further said that the state government has also agreed to fix a maximum ceiling of ₹7,000 for water connection charges in the state, applicable to private providers as well. The decision came in line with the recommendations of the Subordinate Legislation Committee (SLC) of the Jharkhand assembly.
