Six-month crackdown: Police hit Naxals, cyber gangs & peddlers

Jharkhand Police killed 17 Naxalites, arrested 197 others, and ensured the surrender of 10 more in the last six months as part of an intensified crackdown on crime and extremism across the state.

During the same period — January to June this year — police also arrested 767 cybercriminals, 393 drug peddlers, 12 members of organised gangs, and five suspected terrorists, state police spokesperson Michaelraj S said on Friday.

"From January to June this year, police killed 17 Naxalites, arrested 197 Naxalites, and ensured the surrender of 10 Naxalites, besides recovering 113 weapons, 8,591 bullets, 176.5 kg of explosive materials, and ₹4.51 lakh cash collected as levy from their possession," he said, presenting the last six months' achievements of Jharkhand Police at a press conference on Friday.

Sharing data highlighting achievements on the cybercrime front, Michaelraj said police arrested 767 cybercriminals and recovered ₹54.33 lakh in cash from their possession.
