DC Chairs Meet Over Plans to Boost Dhanbad Tourism

He Emphasised That Dhanbad Has Immense Potential for Industrial Tourism, Particularly With Its Historical and Operational Coal Mines

DHANBAD: The deputy commissioner and district magistrate of Dhanbad, Aditya Ranjan, chaired a meeting of the district-level tourism promotion committee at the Collectorate Auditorium on Thursday, focusing on existing tourist sites and exploring new opportunities, with a special emphasis on coal tourism, people familiar with the matter said.

During the meeting, a proposal was initiated to collaborate with Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) to promote coal mining tourism in Dhanbad and showcase the region's rich coal mining legacy to both domestic and international tourists.

"Coal mining has shaped the identity and economy of Dhanbad. We aim to transform this industrial heritage into a tourism asset that will educate visitors and generate local employment," said DC Aditya Ranjan.
