Ranthambore to radio collar sub-adult tigers

The state forest department is set to radio collar sub-adult tigers at the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve (RTR) to monitor their movement, officials aware of the matter said on Friday.

The RTR administration said that the project is aimed at effectively tracking and monitoring these tigers, providing crucial insights into their behaviour, movement patterns, and dispersal routes. The dispersal patterns will help validate vital wildlife corridors, ensuring that these natural pathways remain intact for tiger populations.

"The project aims to study the dispersal patterns of sub-adult tigers by outfitting 16 individuals with radio collars. This is for the first time such an initiative is being planned in Rajasthan," a senior forest official said on condition of anonymity.
