JAIPUR/ALWAR: A political slugfest erupted after a 32-year-old woman was raped allegedly by a nursing staff at the intensive care unit (ICU) of a government hospital in Rajasthan's Alwar, with opposition leaders on Saturday targeting the ruling party over negligence towards women safety and deteriorating law and order situation.

Taking to X, former chief minister Ashok Gehlot said that during the tenure of the Congress government, Rajasthan's health model became a topic of discussion in the country and the world, but the BJP government has ruined it. "The incidents of rape of a woman in the ICU of a hospital in Alwar is an example for it. The people of the state are regretting that more than a year of tenure for such an incompetent government is still left. How bad will the condition of the state be at this time!!," he wrote.
