Delay in posting of doctors, superintendents hit work

As the government hospitals are grappling with shortage of doctors, the delay in posting of 250 medical practitioners, who are currently awaiting posting order (APO) and indecision on appointment of superintendents in 30 hospitals is severely hampering work, officials said.

An official in the health department, on condition of anonymity, said that the doctors who have completed their senior residency are placed on APO till their postings. "This is a routine process. They will be given postings within a few days. The officials were busy due to the ongoing transfer process. Once that is completed, the postings will be done," said the official.

Dr Ajay Chaudhary, president of All Rajasthan In Service Doctors' Association, said, "Most of the doctors are those who have completed their senior residency and are awaiting postings. It's not as if they have some serious complaints against them. After they complete their residency in medical colleges, they are posted in different hospitals by the state government. Their postings are a routine matter and the government will decide in a day or two."
