CEO to review SIR drive preparations

Amid political opposition to the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive — especially in Bihar and from the parties belonging to the INDIA bloc— Rajasthan’ chief electoral officer (CEO) Naveen Mahajan will chair a video conference on Friday to review the state's preparedness for the exercise, people aware of the matter said.
The meeting will take place at 10am and will be attended by all the district election officers (DEOs) and deputy DEOs across the state, they added.
“The Election Commission of India is conducting the SIR across the country, and a calendar for its implementation will be released soon,” a senior official of the election department said on condition of anonymity.
