Bifurcated Municipalities To Be Merged In 3 Districts

The Directorate of Local Bodies (DLB) has issued an order stating that all bifurcated municipalities in Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Kota will be merged by 2025, which were divided by the previous Congress government in October 2019.

JAIPUR: The matter had been ongoing for some time, officials aware of the matter said on Saturday.

According to the order, the department directed officials to initiate the delimitation process in 109 wards and the bifurcated municipalities and send a provisional plan within 33 days. "This is hereby proposed that the two municipalities each in Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Kota will be merged. Therefore, a plan of reconstructing their boundaries and ward numbers will be reformed," read the order issued by the DLB on Friday.

The order, issued to all the district collectors, further added: "On November 22, 2024, the DLB had ordered to appoint administrators in 49 local municipal bodies whose tenure was over that day. It was further directed to prepare for a delimitation across all these bodies as per the population counted in the 2011 census. The 49 are among the total 305 municipal bodies across the state which will now be delimited."
