EC Scans Poll Readiness, Pushes for Higher Voting

Higher enrolment of youth voters in the age group of 18-19, taking steps for increasing the poll percentage and also maintaining highest transparency in conduct of the forthcoming assembly polls in Bihar were among the major points outlined by the Election Commissioner (EC), Vivek Joshi, during a high-level review meeting on poll preparedness with state election department officials and top police brass on Friday.
PATNA:
Joshi, who is on a four-day visit to the state to review poll preparedness ahead of the assembly polls scheduled in October-November this year, laid stress that measures should be taken for increasing the poll percentage in Bihar, which has hovered between 56%-57%. A press release by the state election department said the EC expressed concern that Bihar's poll percentage in 2024 parliamentary polls stood at 56.28% whereas the national poll percentage was 66.10%.
