The desire for easy money takes them to the world of crime and gradually they start indulging in drugs. It is important for parents to keep tab on the behaviour of their wards NIKHIL GOYAL, Psychiatrist
PATNA: Policing has encountered a new challenge - from the spoilt brats dancing to the tunes of hardened criminals lodged in Bihar or West Bengal jails to carry out daring crimes for easy money in their quest for a lavish lifestyle.
The new trend was noticed while analysing different crime incidents, which, to the surprise of the police, involved mostly youth from average families, who were lured into the dark and dingy world of crime, said Additional Director General (Headquarters) Kundan Krishnan.
Krishnan said that the two dacoity incidents -- at GIVA jewellery shop at Danapur and Tanishq store at Ara (Bhojpur) -- in the month of January and March this year was also found to be the handiwork of young boys having no previous track record of crime at the behest of hardened criminals -- Onkar Nath Singh alias Sheru Singh and Chandan Singh alias Prince -- lodged in Purulia jail in West Bengal. Krishnan said in both the incidents, the hardened criminals were found to have lured the young boys involved in the crime with offers of money, air travel and lavish stay in costly hotel, besides other things. "In modern times, materialistic pursuit beyond parents' financial limits to have access to costly electronic gadgets, viz. high-end smartphones and smartwatches, branded wear, gold chains, vehicles etc. is an aspirational trend and the hardened criminals use this weakness to their advantage by luring them into crime," he added.
