PATNA: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday said his government was committed to the welfare of all sections of society and had worked relentlessly for development of the state in all sectors.

Addressing the 'Bhim Samvad', a programme organised by his Janata Dal (United) on the eve of birth anniversary of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, Kumar appealed to people from all sections of society to live together and in an atmosphere of peace and harmony.

Paying tributes to Ambedkar, the JD(U) strongman stressed how Babasaheb had played a big role in nation building, freedom movement, drafting of the Constitution and also in social reform, which would always be remembered.

CM Kumar also emphasised how his party had been committed to development of the state by drawing inspiration from the ideologies and principles of five eminent personalities namely Mahatma Gandhi, Babasaheb B R Ambedkar, Ram Manohar Lohia, Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan and former chief minister Karpoori Thakur.

"Our government is committed to the welfare of all sections of society including, Dalits, mahadalits, backward and extremely backward classes, Muslim community and upper castes. Babasaheb will remain an inspiration for us," Kumar said.
