PATNA:

The court of additional district and sessions judge-3 Vinay Prakash Tiwary on May 14, 2024 acquitted RJD MLA Ritlal Yadav, Ranjan Yadav alias Benga, Shrawan Yadav and Sunil Yadav alias Kana as the prosecution failed to successfully defend the case.

Asha Sinha, the slain leader's wife, three-term BJP MLA from 2005-2020, also filed criminal appeal against the MLA and his associates.

The double bench comprising Justice Rajeev Ranjan Prasad and Justice Shailendra Singh issued notices against them.

The bench listed these matters after four weeks on March 24 for hearing. The order was uploaded on Wednesday.

On April 30, 2003, Lalu Prasad Yadav's RJD organised 'Tel Pilavan Laathi Ghumavan Rally' at Gandhi Maidan in Patna.

On the same day, Sinha, 2002 BJP candidate from Danapur, was murdered in daylight.

Asha Sinha was the eyewitness and informant in the case.
