Farmers demand return of land acquired for SEZ; Bawankule seeks report

Maharashtra Revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has sought a report on the status of the 10,000-hectare Maha Mumbai Special Economic Zone in Raigad.
MUMBAI:
A press release by the Revenue Department specified that Bawankule had asked Raigad collector Kishan Jawale to submit a fact-finding report following a late-night meeting on Wednesday with BJP Rajya Sabha MP Dhairyasheel Patil and a group of farmers who demanded that the SEZ land be de-notified and returned to them since the land acquired in 2004-5 has not been used for industrial purposes.
