Case against Thane FIITJEE centre for duping 80 students

Thane City Police have filed a case against eight officials of FIITJEE in Thane, following allegations of defrauding 80 students of ₹3.20 crore at the institute's Thane centre.
niraj.pandit@hindustantimes.com MUMBAI: The case is set to be transferred to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) for further investigation, said a senior official from the Thane Nagar Police Station.
The action against the Thane centre is the latest development after FIITJEE, an institute reputed for its IIT and JEE coaching programmes, abruptly ceased operations on December 5, 2024, leaving students and their parents in shock. Several centres shut down abruptly in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai, after trouble broke out between its management and faculty, who claim they haven't been paid their dues.
