Police Form Team to Hunt Down Accused, Earlier Involved in Robbery in Rural Parts

PUNE: A 26-year-old woman was allegedly raped inside a stationary Shivshahi bus belonging to the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), at the crowded Swargate bus stand, at 6 am on Tuesday. After analyzing the CCTV footage, police have identified the accused as 36-year-old Dattatray Ramdas Gade, a Shirur resident, who has been involved in chain snatching and robbery cases in rural parts. Police have formed an eight-member team to track down Gade.

MSRTC officials said 1600 buses arrive and depart from Swargate, ferrying 40,000 passengers round the clock daily.
