Undertrial stabbed to death; revenge suspected in 2017 murder case

A 30-year-old man, Shabir, was stabbed to death in the Madeyganj area of Lucknow on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.
LUCKNOW: Police suspect the killing was an act of revenge, linked to an old rivalry involving a 2017 murder case in which Shabir was an accused.
DCP Central Ashish Srivastava said on Saturday that Shabir, originally from Rae Bareli and currently residing in Mumbai, had come to Lucknow to attend a court hearing related to the same case. Around 2:30 am, police received information about a body lying in an empty plot in Madeyganj. Officers rushed to the scene, recovered the body, and identified it as Shabir. He had sustained multiple stab wounds.
