STF arrests notorious criminal in encounter

An encounter unfolded in Lucknow's PGI area on Wednesday evening when the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) arrested Vaibhav Singh, a notorious criminal carrying a ₹1 lakh reward on his head, for his alleged role in a high-profile jewellers' loot case in Vikas Nagar.

According to STF, the team received inputs that Vaibhav Singh was visiting someone near the Kisan Path underpass in the PGI area. A team comprising STF and local PGI police swiftly cordoned off the location.

Sensing danger, Singh attempted to flee on a motorcycle and opened fire at the approaching STF personnel. In the retaliatory fire, he was shot in the leg and apprehended near the Dalona railway crossing underpass in the PGI area. He was subsequently taken to PGI Trauma Centre for treatment.
