Cold winds improve AQI, break 4-day streak of 'severe' pollution

Cold, northwesterly winds, nipping through Delhi at a speed of 8kmph, led to an improvement in the Capital's pollution levels on Saturday, breaking a four-day streak of "severe" air in the city.

Separately, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that two western disturbances are likely to affect the National Capital Region (NCR) in the coming days, bringing rain to the city on Sunday as well as in the post-Christmas period.
Delhi on Saturday recorded an average air quality index (AQI) reading of 370 (very poor) at 4pm, according to the national bulletin released by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
However, the winds continued to improve the city's pollution levels—it had dipped to 364 by 10pm.
