'If JEs sell liquor, who will do their work': Jai Ram slams Cong govt

Leader of Opposition in the Himachal assembly Jai Ram Thakur on Saturday lashed out at the Congress government's decision that state agencies will operate unsold liquor vends and said, "If junior engineers are busy selling liquor, who will do their work?"

SHIMLA: Leader of Opposition in the Himachal assembly Jai Ram Thakur on Saturday lashed out at the Congress government's decision that state agencies will operate unsold liquor vends and said, "If junior engineers are busy selling liquor, who will do their work?"

Jai Ram, also a former Himachal chief minister, said the chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led government has made a mockery of the system in the name of "vyavastha parivartan".

The state government recently decided that governmental agencies like HIMFED, Himachal Pradesh Horticulture Produce Marketing And Processing Corporation Limited (HPMC), forest corporation, civil supplies corporation and municipal corporations will operate unsold liquor vends. The government handed over the responsibility of 19 liquor shops in Shimla to the municipal corporation.
