80% Candidates Lost Deposits in Elections

Nearly 80% of candidates in the Delhi Assembly elections, including most Congress contenders, forfeited their security deposits, election results showed on Saturday.
NEW DELHI: Of the 699 candidates in the fray, 555 (79.39%) failed to secure the required one-sixth of the total votes.
All the candidates of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and its allies-Janata Dal (United) and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas)-managed to save their security deposits, election commission officials said.
