Pandya makes winning return with fiery knock
December 03, 2025
|Hindustan Times Gurugram
Allrounder Hardik Pandya announced his injury comeback in style, hitting a 42-ball unbeaten 77 to steer Baroda to a seven-wicket win over Punjab in Elite Group C of the T20 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy tie in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
Bihar's Vaibhav Suryavanshi celebrates his ton.
Pandya, 32, missed the Asia Cup following a quadricep injury in September, began with a subdued spell of 4-0-52-1, but took charge of the chase after Punjab scored 222/8, led by Abhishek Sharma’s 19-ball 50 and Anmolpreet Singh's 69 (32 balls). Pandya took Baroda home, reaching 224/3 with five balls to spare.
The knock, with seven fours and four sixes, will also help Pandya warm up for the T20I series against South Africa, which will follow the ongoing ODIs. Pandya’s bowling looked in need of more work as he faced a hammering by Punjab skipper Abhishek Sharma, who notched up an 18-ball 50 (5x4, 4x6).
Suryavanshi shines
