March 13, 2025
|Hindustan Times Gurugram
A prototype of the Tejas light combat aircraft (LCA Mk-I) on Wednesday fired the locally made Astra beyond visual range air-to-air missile and achieved a direct hit on a flying target, with the defence ministry describing the move as a "significant milestone" towards the induction of its latest variant, the Mk-1A, the defence ministry said.
NEW DELHI:
The missile, capable of engaging the targets at ranges of more than 100km, has been fired from the Mk-I fighter earlier too. The Mk-I is already in IAF service. The launch was carried out off the Odisha coast.
