14 Hindus part of Sikh pilgrims group to Pak denied entry at Wagah

At least 14 pilgrims, who were part of the group headed for the 556th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak at Nankana Sahib across the border, were denied entry by Pakistan authorities at the Wagah border check post on Tuesday.

All the 14 pilgrims were Hindu and held Indian passports, but were of Pakistan origin, said intelligence officials. Other Hindu pilgrims were allowed by Pakistan to enter the neighbouring country, said SGPC and DSGMC officials.

‘A ‘jatha’ (a group) of nearly 1,900 Sikh pilgrims crossed over to Pakistan through the Attari-Wagah border for the celebrations of ‘Parkash Purb’ of Guru Nanak Dev on Tuesday. Chand and his family were also part of that ‘jatha’.
