The Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of the Rajasthan Police has uncovered a covert shooting range hidden deep within the Chambal ravines, where gangsters from across states were being trained to handle deadly automatic weapons, officials aware of the matter said.
JAIPUR/BHARATPUR: The Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of the Rajasthan Police has uncovered a covert shooting range hidden deep within the Chambal ravines, where gangsters from across states were being trained to handle deadly automatic weapons, officials aware of the matter said.
The investigations reveal that Ramdutt alias Sonu Chambal—a notorious gangster who is behind bars in Jhajjar (Haryana)—has in the past two-three years trained around three to four dozen youngsters in firearm use at the site.
The revelation came after the AGTF, acting on specific intelligence, conducted a raid on Wednesday and seized an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and 34 live cartridges. A father-son duo, Jitendra alias Jeetu Chambal (30) and Tejpal (60), both residents of Basai Ghiyaram village in Rajakhera, Dholpur, were arrested, said police.
Police said the duo had developed the firing range in the rugged terrain of Chambal to serve as a safe haven and training camp for gangsters from Rajasthan and other states. Jeetu is the brother of Ramdutt alias Sonu Chambal and Shivdutt—both associated in the past with the Anandpal gang.
