EC may announce nationwide SIR in presser today

NEW DELHI: The Election Commission of India (ECT) will holda press conference on Monday evening to announce the first phase of the nationwide special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, officials aware of the matter said on Sunday.
According to officials, the conference will be held at Vigyan Bhawan at 4:15 pm on Monday and will focus on the nationwide roll out of the SIR exercise. The first phase will cover 10 to 15 states and Union territories, including. poll-bound Assam, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala and West Bengal where assembly elections are due in early 2026
