Heatwave likely in parts of state on March 18, 19: IMD

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued a heatwave warning amid rising temperatures across North interior Karnataka till March 19.
BENGALURU: In response, health minister Dinesh Gundu Rao urged residents to take precautions and limit outdoor activities between 12 noon and 3 pm. This comes after Ainapur village in Kalaburagi district recorded the highest temperature on Sunday, reaching 42.8°C.
"As the heat is increasing, the government will decide on revising the work timings of government offices. Officers should avoid field visits in the afternoon. Government employees should not go outside between 12 pm and 3 pm. Work should be scheduled for the morning or evening. Temperatures in Raichur district are nearing 43 to 44°C," Rao told reporters in Raichur.
