BENGALURU: Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot underscored the vital role of cooperative federalism and the significance of upholding the Constitution's vision during the 76th Republic Day celebrations at the Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw Parade Ground on Sunday.

"The Constitution divides sovereign power between the Union and the states, recognising the administrative authority of the states while upholding diversity and unity," he said. "The government of Karnataka is fully committed to the principles of the Union and has consistently contributed to national development while adhering to constitutional ideals."

The Governor noted that Karnataka has consistently voiced concerns whenever federal principles have been compromised. "It was the dream of our Constitution makers to build strong states, and thereby a strong India. Ensuring that vision remains intact is our collective responsibility," he said, calling on all stakeholders to safeguard the principles of power sharing and collaboration.
