25-YEAR-OLD MAN HELD FOR RAPE AND MURDER OF MINOR: POLICE

BENGALURU: A 25-year-old man has been taken into custody following the rape and murder ofa 14-year-old girl in Tavarekere, an area on the outskirts of Bengaluru, on Wednesday.
Police said that the accused, under the influence of marijuana, assaulted the girl, sexually assaulted her, struck her face with a gas cylinder, and left her with severe injuries before fleeing.
According to police, her brother found her bleeding when he returned home for lunch. She was rushed to the hospital but later died from her injuries.
The family, originally from Koppal district, had moved to Tavarekere approximately 18 months ago for employment.
