The upcoming elections in Bihar will write a new chapter of the state's prosperity, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday, even as he attacked the opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) over the “jungle raj” era that the “people of the state will never forgive the party for”.

Addressing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) youth workers in Bihar through the ‘Mera Booth Sabse Majboot programme, Modi said the state’s youth will play a significant role in the assembly elections,

“Amid the festive fervour, preparations for the worship of Chhathi Maiya are also in full swing,” he said. “Alongside all this, Bihar is also celebrating the grand festival of democracy. This is an election to write a new chapter of Bihar’s prosperity. The youth of Bihar have a very significant role in this.”

Around 16.3 million people under the 18-29 age group account for around 25% of Bihar’s electorate. The upcoming elections will also see 1.4 million first-
