Put your faith in God to calm your fears and anxiety

HELLO and welcome to Thought for the Week. Christians realise that it's important to trust in Almighty God, not military might, other people or wealth.

- David Lamb is a South Devon-based Baptist lay preacher.

Put your faith in God to calm your fears and anxiety

For a practical example, let's consider Gideon, a man mentioned in the Old Testament. He was a judge in Israel, not with a wig, presiding in a law court - no, judges in Israel were national leaders. In Gideon's time, the Midianites were invading Israel, and Gideon was leading an army against them. God said: “The people who are with you are too many for Me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel claim glory for itself against Me, saying, ‘My own hand has saved me" (Judges ch7, v2).
