Swedish CB opens door to rate cuts if inflation eases

A potential combination of weaker growth and lower inflationary pressure might lead Sweden’s central bank to ease policy ahead, minutes of its most recent rate-setting meeting showed.

The Riksbank held its policy rate at 2.25 per cent as expected on May 8 arguing a wait-and-see approach was best until it was clear whether global trade friction would lead to lower growth and inflation - a slightly more likely scenario - or would stoke price pressures.
