Semaglutide protects heart beyond weight-loss: Study

A new study named by "Select Cardiovascular Study," involving around 17,604 adults has showed that the semaglutide 2.4mg (a prescription medication) reduces the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE), regardless of weight loss in adults with established cardiovascular disease and overweight or obesity.
The study was conducted in 41 countries at more than 800 investigator sites by Novo Nordisk, a leading global healthcare company.
Analysis of data from the study was recently published by The Lancet, the top-tier British medical journal.
The Select analysis showed that at week 20 of treatment with semaglutide 2.4 mg, people across two weight-change categories, those who achieved 5% or more weight loss versus less than 5% weight loss, had similar MACE risk reductions.
