SC forms panel to select Kerala varsities' VCs

The Supreme Court on Monday appointed Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia as the head search-cum-selection committee for vice-chancellors of Kerala universities.

The top court swung into action as hundreds of thousands of students suffered due to the uncertainty in their routine functioning, including getting academic certificates.

The tussle between the Kerala Governor and the state government over vice chancellor selections has continued since 2016 as both tried to install their nominees to the posts.

The court tasked the committee specifically with the role of shortlisting candidates for the regular VC positions at two prominent institutions within two weeks.

Governor Rajendra Arlekar appealed to the SC against the Kerala High Court order against the appointment of Kerala Technological University and the University of Digital Sciences VCs.
