Man gets Dhs20m in compensation over financial fraud

The Dubai Civil Court ruled that a Gulf citizen should be compensated with Dhs20 million for being subjected to financial fraud, whereby a group of individuals seized his money under the pretext of investing it in film production.

It later emerged that the project was fictitious and had been used to obtain large sums of money without any commercial basis or real activity.

The details of the case date back to when a Gulf plaintiff fell victim to an organised deception operation.

A number of people convinced him that they owned a company working in the film industry and film production sector, assuring him that the project was highly profitable.
