Kollam tops India's suicide charts again: NCRB report

Kollam district in Kerala, a state with the second highest suicide rates in India after Sikkim, has emerged as the suicide capital of the country, according to the Accidental Deaths and Suicides in India 2023 report released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
The report reveals that Kollam, for the second time in three years, has recorded the highest suicide rate among Indian cities.
In 2023, Kollam reported a suicide rate of 48.6 per lakh population, the highest among Indian cities, followed by Vijayawada (38.7), Rajkot (38.6), and Indore (33.1).
