Heatwave may ‘grip' UAE for nearly a month

The region will experience hot and humid weather conditions, known as “Wa'kat Suhail” or “Zafarat Suhail” (Canopus heatwaves), from the appearance of the star Canopus in late August 2025 until the autumnal equinox on Sept.23, 2025, according to Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Emirates Astronomical Society and member of the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences.
These conditions cause fatigue due to high humidity, despite temperatures being milder compared to previous heatwaves.
