Establishment stands firm behind Shahbaz govt: Report

Relations between the federal government and the Pakistan Army remain very good and the establishment continues to show full confidence in Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif's leadership, said a report.

It said that amid recent speculation about a possible change in the federal government the credible and well-placed sources have dismissed such rumours.

Recently, social media and political circles have been abuzz with unverified claims about behind-the-scenes manoeuvring, including whispers about a federal minister [the report did not name anybody but it is widely believed that he is Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi] being elevated as a potential replacement for Shahbaz Sharif.

However, a senior official firmly denied any such possibility, stating that things are very good between Rawalpindi [Pakistan Army] and Islamabad [federal government] just as they were before.
