Tariff forces Nissan to rework its US strategy

Japanese carmaker Nissan has said it would revise plans to reduce production in the US after President Donald Trump imposed 25 per cent tariffs on auto imports.

The company also said it would stop selling in the US market two vehicle models that are made at a factory in Mexico.

Nissan is currently trying to tackle financial difficulties including by consolidating production lines at two factories in the United States.

But on Friday it said it was tweaking its plans to adapt to Trump's levies, which came into force on Thursday.
